Physical Education Curriculum

Physical education is an important component in the St. Paul’s curriculum. Two-and three-year olds visit P.E. twice each week. Beginning in PreKindergarten, students receive physical education daily.

Two-and three-year olds work to refine gross motor skills. They also incorporate learning about colors and numbers through physical activities. As they progress, the tasks become more challenging. PreKindergarten and Kindergarten students begin to play games that have structure and guidelines.  Through these games, children learn how to achieve a common goal within given parameters. They are also introduced to team games to practice sharing duties.

First and second grade students begin to refine their ability to work together in the team environment.  They also participate in activities designed to target skills needed for sport specific activities.

In third through sixth grades, sport specific activities are the focus in these grades, with an emphasis on sportsmanship. Occasional scrimages allow students to practice for intramural competition. Students are given responsibility in deciding the direction of the class and are encouraged to give suggestions on the activities the class enjoys most.

Meet the Teacher ~ Lance Wright

I was born in Wichita Falls in 1975. When I was school age, I attended Henrietta ISD until I was a sophomore. My father then transferred to Waco where I began attending China Spring High School. After high school I went to MCC and then transferred to Southwest Texas State University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Exercise and Sport Science. Immediately following college, I worked with troubled teens as an Activities coordinator and Wellness instructor. I did this for several years until I decided to move back to Waco and then began working at St. Paul’s.
