Listening & Reading ~ This center has a tape recorder with headphones. Children listen to short stories as they follow along in their books. They draw or write about their favorite character or event.
Writing ~ In this center, children are encouraged to write sentences, stories, or friendly letters. Stationery, stamps, and writing utensils are available for student use.
Math ~ This center provides hands on experiences in counting, measuring, and addition & subtraction. Manipulatives include geoboards, pattern blocks, balance scales, and coins.
Blocks ~ Children develop math concepts and motor skills while building with Legos, Lincoln logs, and large wooden blocks.
Art ~ This center encourages children to be creative while developing fine motor skills. Projects often include cutting, gluing, painting, and drawing.
Discovery ~ This center often goes along with our current IB unit. We also include fun science learning activities as well.
Overhead ~ Kindergarteners practice reading, writing, and math skills using the overhead projector
Puzzles & Games ~ Children work with both floor and table puzzles. Various skill games are a part of this center.
Computers ~ Students can play educational games and visit kid-friendly websites. |
