What's IB? Ask Me!
We are beginning a new ad campaign designed to build interest for the IB program at St. Paul's School in the Waco Community. You may have seen some of our new advertisements in the Wacoan, and we also have a website (www.whatsIB.com) specifically designed to give information about the IB program. In addition, we are working to make new yard signs that include the IB logo. In your child's backpack, you will find an envelope with a way you can help spread the news. You will receive a sticker to place on the back window of your car as well as a sheet of paper that describes some of the basic components of the Primary Years Program that we have at St. Paul's. Extra stickers are available in the office, so if you would like one for a second car, please drop by or e-mail Yvonne and we'll get it to your child. If someone asks you about IB, the best response you can give is a personal story of how you've seen your child improve as a learner, either through eager interest in a topic, learning to be self-sufficient when it comes to finding answers to questions, or taking action as a result of learning something.

April Outreach Project
St. Paul’s School is uniting with St. Paul’s Church
in an Outreach Project Each Month!
The Outreach Project for April is
“Pencils for Peace!”
The Junior ROTC program at A.J. Moore Academy High School is organizing a school supply drive for the schools in the Al Anbar province. A young Waco Marine, Caleb Duty and his fellow Marines in Iraq are passing out pencils, paper, pencil sharpeners and other school supplies to the children as they travel through the little towns in this province to help as the community schools rebuild. If you would like to donate some supplies, please place them in the box in Parish Hall labeled
“Pencils for Peace.”
Thank you for helping St. Paul’s School make a difference in our community! |

IB in Action
Attitude of the Week ~ Curiosity
~ To wonder about things that are outside of your own life~
Curiosity is an important trait of a genius. I don’t think you can find an intellectual giant who is not a curious person. Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman, they are all curious characters. Why is curiosity so important?
- It makes your mind active instead of passive
- It makes your mind observant of new ideas
- It opens up new worlds and possibilities
- It brings excitement into your life
Knowing the importance of curiosity, here are some tips to develop it:
- Keep an open mind
- Don’t take things as granted
- Ask questions relentlessly
- Don’t label something as boring
- See learning as something fun
- Read diverse kinds of reading

Yearbook Ads
The 6th Grade Students are selling ads for the School Yearbook for the current 2007-2008 year that students will receive at the beginning of school next year. The 6th grade class is doing one final fundraiser to help raise the needed funds for Scholarships and an End of Year Gift or Gifts to the school.
An ad could be purchased for a business you own or work; congratulations to a graduate; a thank you to a special teacher, faculty member or parent; in honor of someone; or in memory of someone.
Please contact Karina Deaver at kjdeaver@hot.rr.com or any 6th Grade Student or Parent if you have any questions. You can pick up a Yearbook Ad Contract in the School Office or one can be emailed to you directly by contacting Karina by email. All ads need to be turned in by May 5th to Yvonne in the School Office!
Thank you for supporting our school and the fundraising efforts of this year’s 6th Grade Class! |
