Music/Story Time offers the opportunity for children to listen to stories accompanied by instrumental sound effects and songs. As their vocabulary develops, singing becomes part of their curriculum. Twos play instruments, listen, and move to music. |

Threes play instruments, listen, move to music and sing songs related to their units of study in their classroom, the seasons, and special occasions. |

| PreKindergarten |
PreK students play instruments, listen, move to music and sing songs related to their units of study in the classroom. Music activities relating to the “letter of the week”
are important parts of the music curriculum. |

| Kindergarten |
Kindergarteners play many different instruments, sing, create movements, and learn music to present for special occasions during the year. Many music activities connecting with IB units are done throughout the year. |

| First Grade |
First Graders sing, play instruments, move, and listen to music. Music reading skills based on prior knowledge become more developed. Learning music for chapel and special occasions is important. Music activities relating to IB units are emphasized. |

| Second Grade |
Second graders skills in reading music become more developed. They continue to learn more about playing instruments and creating music. Music activities relating to IB units are important parts of second grade music. |

| Third Grade |
Third graders develop their skills in reading notes and rhythms through their singing and playing instruments. Playing the recorder and autoharp is a part of third grade music. They learn about Texas through songs. |

| Fourth Grade |
Fourth graders continue to develop their skills in reading music and playing instruments. Handchime ringing is an important part of fourth grade music class. Music about America and its music makers, as well as IB related music, is a focus. |

| Fifth Grade |
Fifth graders learn to play more difficult music on Orff instruments, chimes, and other instruments. Students learn music about America and its musicians and are involved in music activities related to IB units of study. |

|
| Sixth Grade |
Sixth graders study music related to their IB units. Students have a more in-depth study of music theory, music appreciation and music history. Each one does an European composer research project. Training to be the leaders in various school programs and presentations is part of music class activities. A musical production has been a part of some sixth grade classes. |
