Parking Lot
Thanks to the generosity of Gordon and Susan Harriman, St. Paul’s can sell parking places in the lots of the shopping centers either side of 32nd Street and Franklin Drive for Baylor home Football games.   The chair organizes the volunteers for each game day.  Volunteers are needed to man the various openings and collect the money from the customers.  The chair sets up barricades prior to each game to assist traffic control.  An average game set up is about 2 hours prior to kick off and ends about a half-hour after kick off.  This can be a fun job with very little preparation work.  Each gate is ideally manned by two people so social time can be had by all.

Box Tops
The Box Tops chair generates publicity and/or box top activity by any media they choose, i.e. flyers, emails, and website.  Their responsibilities include the publicity, collecting and sorting the box tops, and the submittal of the box tops for collection of profits.  In the past, the chair has offered the students an occasional contest for which class can bring in the most box tops with some treats being given to the winning class.  This is a job that is easy to do at home with very little computer work required, children can even assist with some of this job!

Harvest Dinner
Harvest dinner was originally a big fundraiser for the St. Paul’s school in the 1980’s and 90’s.  It developed into a dinner for school families in conjunction with an Open House, and was then put aside to de-clutter the calendar for auction.  This event is being brought back by popular demand to be for the new school year Open house night.  The chair will organize this event by advertising and collecting reservations for the dinner.

Mixed Bags
A “fun”-draiser that everyone loves…bags.  These bright and festive re-usable bags of every shape and color are an easy sell to anyone who sees them.  This opportunity is at the beginning of the school year and sells for only two weeks.  The chairman organizes the event by pre-ordering samples, handling the marketing and publicity of the event, and inputs each student’s orders for a quick and fun fundraiser for St. Paul’s.

Room Parent Chairman
Organizes and recruits a parent from each class to serve as the liaison for the teacher and parents of the class. The job requires a small amount of time commitment at the beginning to recruit parents.  After positions have been filled, the room parent chair will provide follow-up communication via email to room parents as a reminder of class auction project, class parties and class booth for spring carnival.

(Parents & Friends provides funding for these events.)

Mentors
Mentors provide information about school events, introduce new families to the school and make them feel “at home.”   If you have a friend that you have referred to our school you might want to request to be their mentor.

Teacher Appreciation Chairman
This is a very small way we show our teachers how much we appreciate them and the outstanding job they do.  This chair coordinates luncheons with the room parents that are held once a month in honor of our teachers.  Each class picks a cuisine theme and provides a special breakfast or lunch for the teachers.

Dad’s Breakfast
This annual event is for Dads and their kids to have a fun breakfast at school, and a photo opportunity of this special day with Dad.  The chair publicizes and sends out reservation forms and organizes the decorations and food for this fun morning.   This event is usually scheduled in February.

Spring Carnival
Spring Carnival is a much-anticipated fun-filled event for the kids and parents alike.  Each year has its own theme but there are always bouncy houses, games, and the perennial favorite cake-walk.  The chair(s) pick their theme and each class helps get a booth or activity for the carnival.  The chair(s) publicize and organize the various activities and/or dinner for the fun night.

Volunteer Coordinator
This job requires mainly computer work and communication with various chairmen and website coordinator after each event to assist in managing service hour requirements.  At the beginning of year make list of volunteers for each job based on their request. You will communicate with chairman to acquire a list of volunteers from each event after that event. Compile information and forward updated lists to website chairman.
