Personal Information:

I was born on a farm in the small East Texas town of Goodrich and attended all twelve years of school there, graduating as high school valedictorian. Of course, everyone in my class made the top ten.... because there were only nine of us!  I played all sports and loved being a cheerleader.  I attended First Baptist Church, was active in Girl's Auxilary, and earned a three-year perfect attendance pin!  In the community, I was chosen as Polk County Gold Star Girl of the 4-H club.

My first year of college was at San Jacinto Jr. College in Pasadena, under the protective eye of my older brother, who is a chemistry professor.  I then transferred to Sam Houston State in Hunstville, majoring in English and minoring in art.  Upon graduation, I lived in Austin for six months before receiving my first teaching assignment in Cameron, Texas.  Two years later, I enrolled in graduate school at Baylor and moved to Waco.  I've lived here since 1978, so now it is truly my home!

My husband, Bruce, is a wonderful, upbeat person.  When we met, he was running marathons, determined to overcome a diagnosis of MS.  Bruce's background was in a military family, and soon we realized that we both share a passion for travel.  The past thirteen years of our marriage have been fantastic with trips to Europe, Nova Scotia, Gutatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada.  Bruce has two grown children, a daughter in Kona, Hawaii, and a son in Boston, Massachusetts.  Our only pets are a clown fish, various damsels, and a hermit crab; but when I am too old to travel, I anticipate being a "cat person" once again!

Educational Information: I  received a B.A. from Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas, and a M.A. from Baylor University in English.  I have taught English, Reading, World History, and art   I have sponsored cheerleaders, pep squad, twirlers, and all U.I.L. literary events.

Professional Information: I taught two years at Cameron I.S.D., twelve years at China Spring I.S.D., and seventeen years at La Vega I.S.D.  I actually retired a couple of years ago, but I never stopped teaching.  I think it would be too boring just to stay at home, and I really love working with students.  I know that St. Paul's is going to be a wonderful experience.  The people are so great, and I feel strongly about the philosophy upon which the school is based.  I am thrilled to be a part of the St. Paul's family!
