Weekly Learning Experiences   

Math    

Our focus in math this week is multiplying multi-digit numbers by one & two-digit numbers. We will be using various strategies such as identifying basic facts, partial-product algorithms, and mental math. There will be a test on Thursday. We will continue to focus on division timed-tests through the remainder of the year.

Language Arts   

Grammar

Unit 6 focuses on adjectives/adverbs. Our focus this week will be identifying adverbs and the verbs they tell about.  The test on Adjectives/Adverbs will be next Monday.

Reading

We continue to read and journal for Journey Under the Sea by R.A. Montgomery. Our current  read-aloud novel is an autobiography by Beverly Cleary titled A Girl From Yamhill.

Spelling

Unit 35 focuses on Continents and Nationalities. The packet is due on Thursday May 17. This is the last spelling packet of 3rd Grade.

IB Unit of Inquiry  

 Home Sweet Biome (Biomes) This week students will finish their independent animal research and begin to practice with their biome groups for our big Biome Museum on Friday. Students will make their presentations to me and the rest of the class on Thursday. Parents are invited and encouraged to be here on Friday in the Parish Hall from 9:00-10:45 for the presentation to the public. Don’t forget to work on your costume at home.

 Students will  be working on map and geography skills.

Students will complete their biome murals. The murals will serve as a background for the Museum presentations on Friday.
